Remember that terms are useful as descriptions only when everyone understands the definition. If few know of the horns you mention, narrowing the broadly used term "tenor tuba" to just those instruments causes more confusion than it relieves.

Sure, Mars may sound wonderful on such an instrument, as may the Bydlo, but the composers wrote those parts for euphonium and French C tuba, and used the terms "tenor tuba" and "tuba" to identify the parts.
