Not sure but I think it has to do with the large mass of the bow guard itself. It takes much more heat to melt the solder. And then there is so much solder to melt before you can get it loose. Not like a joint or coupling of tubing.

I soldered wires and computer chips for 30+ years, and sometimes ran into some big heat sinks that took a lot more heat to remove.
