I will proudly suggest that my alma mater, the University of North Texas, is the best choice for someone with as diverse interests as yourself. The tuba prof., Don Little, is a great teacher, player, and human being; the musicology (esp. ethnomusicology) is very strong, the trombone teachers are appropriately geeky, and the jazz dept. is unsurpassed.
When you throw in the cost, UNT simply can't be beat!
