I bought a similar type of horn (a 3 valve compensating Besson Eb) on ebay for about $900 (from a regular contributor to the list). It is in 'medium' condition - plenty of small dents, lacquer wear and evidence of past repairs - but it plays beautifully and the intonation is nearly dead on (when I'm alone - I have to fuss with it a bit during band rehearsal). Don't worry about the dents. If your horn plays well and you like the sound - keep it! I read somewhere (perhaps another reader could confirm this) that extending the bell flair beyond a certain diameter has very little effect on the sound that is generated by a horn.
