Taxes are the main revenue stream at all levels of government. So when you say that the government should cover school lunches rather than taxes, you're contradicting yourself.

Also, I think I should point out that it is, in fact, easier for wealthier people to donate money to a symphony orchestra. This is because they have more money. If people feel orchestras are truly valuable, (do you?) then they may find themselves in a position where it necessary to help keep them afloat. An orchestra in dire straits has not necessarily been mismanaged. More likely, they can't find a way to get Rhodes Scholars like yourself away from "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" long enough to pay to hear their fancy fiddlin' and blowin'.
