If fewer adults behaved as you've outlined above, audition committees wouldn't have to scratch their heads upon receiving mountains of resumes. After all, a resume is about as representative of one's playing as "made-up" words - prior to being defined - are to being representative of anything at all.
No one should clog up such a process at the expense of others, whether those others be the serious applicants or the (often serving at no recompense) committee members.
for those who might disagree: If a potential applicant cannot evaluate whether they are a "serious" applicant, the obvious answer is "no".
