We've got to be careful to separate the person from the work. Von Karajan and Schwartzkopf were both members of the Nazi pary. (Orff wasn't; his big mistake was telling a bunch of real whoppers during his denazification interviews).
If Wagner has any offensive words in his output, let's change them. The music's still good and Wagner is long dead, so nothing that we do will matter to him. After all, we still sing Stephen Foster songs, even though he was quite a racist.
