Actually your argument doesn't really wash when you say people would pay if they could. In almost all cases, at SOME price, the item is available. It's just a higher price than you want pay. That may be a rational decision, but it doesn't justify stealing. I'd love a 1927 Bently race car. I don't have $300-400,000 for one. I'd surely pay $10,000. There aren't any for sale for that price. Does that mean I'm justified stealing it? Hardly.
