I have experimented with different brands of mutes myself, and I have found that the best one (for me) is the Humes & Berg Stonelined Aluminum Mute. I have the big one because that is what fits both my CC and F, and to me it sounds the best of anything I've tried including the NG, R&S, and Tenn. Tech mutes. It is also the most expensive that I've found, but the solid aluminum seems to resonate and produce the most characteristic sound.
