I don't play on a Kalison but I do have this exact same problem with my Rudy Meinl RM-10. I have gotten used to using 1-3 as an alternate fingering. I would strongly advise you to not try lipping the pitches around. This will ultimately lead to an uncentered sound and then you'll have some real problems! Really, getting used to the 1-3 combination was not hard at all and I don't regret the decision at all because of the sound I get on my Rudy. If you are similarly convinced about your Kalison sound then take the plunge! Good luck!
