I had the same problem with my Nirschl 4/4. I loved the sound of the horn so I experimented. I tried out several mouthpieces, tried to lip the pitch up, etc. When none of these worked I resorted to alternate fingerings. The 1st and 3rd valve combination worked perfectly and I quickly got used to it. It actually took me awhile to revert back to the normal fingering after I sold the 4/4 for a 6/4 monster. If you love the horn stick with it.
