I am not a physician but, as a brass player, I would say the amounts of pressure required for the high range of the tuba is not as high as the pressure requirements for the trumpet. There was the tests done in 1960 with all brass instruments with the results that at middle C, all had the same air flow and pressure. As the pitch went down, air flow increased and pressure decreased. Pressure went up and air flow down as pitch went up.

It is unfortunate that the person you need to ask this to is no longer with us.
