I thought the original question was what do military brass musicians do with their condensation/spit valves during performances at the White House. It would be a blessing to have this question answered only by those who perform at such functions and who know what actually happens.
Now, if the above sounds stuffy, let me add one of my own recent observations on the general subject of waste water disposal. I had the good fortune to attend a recital by the principal trombone of a great New York City orchestra. That player blew his water right on the concert hall floor-------no rag, mat, or paper. Was anyone bothered by this? Absolutely not. His playing so mesmerized the audience that anything petty like emptying the spit valve on the floor was forgiven.
