Tiny correction:
Rotary valves in fact can be placed closer to the mouthpiece, than I ever saw on piston tubas.
One of the larger erman makers, probably WM, made a BBb for the Berlin phil player with a tilted set of rotaries. Allowing for a very short leadpipe.
