I am a freshman performance major at the University of Minnesota. I am
currently playing a BBb, and was told by my teacher that if you put 100
blindfolded professional musicians in a room with one person
playing a BBb and one playing a CC, that hardly anyone would know the difference.
I had the opportunity to play a CC for one year during high school and I can
tell you that, aside from the fingerings, there is no difference. In fact,
I later went out and bought almost the exact same model for myself, only it
is a BBb. If you had me play these two horns blindfolded, I guarantee you that
I wouldn't know the difference (I don't have perfect pitch, obviously).
My opinion may not be worth as much as some others, but I wanted to make sure that you heard from someone on the other side.
