I am currently taking classes in brass repair. We will soon be going over the topic of dent removal. That is a topic of much interest to me. I have a couple sizable dents (size of a half dollar coin) that are rather shallow (1/8"-1/4" depth) in the bell of my tuba. I was wondering if there are some tools or supplies that the average Joe....or Todd....could buy at a place like Home Depot to roll or press out dents of this type. I understand that there would be some scarring of the lacquer BUT I plan on removing all of the lacquer after I remove the dents. I also have some minor bumps and bruises along the edge of the bell that I would like to roll out as well. Are there any tools I could acquire for that as well??? If it matters.....the tuba I would like to remove the dents from is a MW 2165. Thank you!
