I was never crazy about Chuck's sound when he was playing the little Yamaha. Not that I am one to critique him, but the sound he got on the CB50 was very different and had lots of body and color. I do not know how to explain it really other than to say it sounds "thick." I heard them live about 5 years ago when he had the CB50 with the carbon fiber bell and he had the same sound then too.
What is he playing now that they are back with Yamaha? I have not heard any of their more recent recordings. I understand the Goldberg Variations CD is very fine. What horn was he using for that recording? Were they with Yamaha then or were they still using their CB horns?
