Klaus, Joe and I have this conversation that hasn't all been on the forum here.

The bottom bow on my Besson euphonium was flattened and nearly ruined. Restoring it to something approximating an actual bottom bow was not only difficult, but the result is marginal at best. And the guard was not repairable. It is still oval in spots, too.

I didn't compare the valve bore, but rather the circumference of the two ends of the bottom bow in addition to the width between them. The results seem close enough between the Weril and the Besson to be worth giving it a try. A Weril bottom bow could hardly be worse than the current one, and it might be better, in addition to looking better and having a guard in place. The ferrules are round, though, and least they are now. It's what I would call a low-cost experiment. And it is certainly reversible.
