The 22 is a good standard mouthpiece and I think the 22 would be a good mouthpiece for a less experienced player to use. It is not terribly large and has a fairly comfortable rim. I like it alot. I am not into really big mouthpieces. I can't say much about the "funnel" without seeing it, but the "Helleberg" style of mouthpieces are funnel shaped as opposed to bowl shaped.
