Congrats on a good deal, Lew! I've had a couple of the eefer monsters and found two problems--they didn't sound like an eefer (more like a CC) and the intonation wasn't wonderful, though that could vary between samples. A 4-valve front-action one isn't all that common, however, so when you get it, let me know what you think.

OTOH, many consider the bell on these things to be the best part of the horn and you'll find that they get grafted onto everything from a King to a Miraphone. I've had good luck taking a monster eefer and "cutting" it to CC using just the bell, bottom and top bows. FWIW, the bottom bow is the same as on the BBb 4/4 York. The Eb bell is a bit shorter and "fatter" than the BBb bell.

If the valves are decent, $300 isn't a bad price at all if the horn's in as good condition as it looks.
