This is the way they taught us (trumpet players) to play Eb tuba when I learned (see post below).
Don't read the music - play the position on the staff for the fingering - Eb tuba = Bb trumpet if you use the position on the staff to determine which valve(s) to push (you just have to allow for three flat/sharps depending on which horn you are transitioning from/to). Kinda primitive, but it will get you started until you can do it the right way (unless you are the class dummy like me and play that way for years)
