Good choice going with the Getzen! Keep it at home until he gets used to the new fingerings(but is still protective of it). Using two sets of fingerings is harder, and forces the brain to work to more. There have been times where I went somewhere to play and all they had was a BBb (I usually play Eb- sometimes CC), sure it makes the little wheels in your head turn faster, but it's worth it.
