The trumpet is clearly, based on the bracing, a King Liberty. While King did make C trumpets and cornets that converted to Bb/A (usually called vocal trumpets or cornets), I do not believe the Liberty was one of them. I think they usually had a second set of valve branch slides to play in Bb/A, not just a pull out arrangement as was typical for a Bb/A converstion.

If in fact this was a C trumpet, you'd have to pull out a lot to go to Bb (a whole step-just like adding the length of the first valve branch) and then some more to go to A (another half step - the length of the second valve branch). By that point, you'd also have to pull out the valve branch slides noticably also.

My Liberty #2 - similar, but more 1930's "modern" styling - has the Bb/A 2 slide arrangement, and each of the valve slides has a scored mark for the A conversion.

Does yours show TWO score marks for C to Bb and then to A?????
