I would give Custom a call and ask Jeff for a few suggestions. He will probably be willing to send you a few to try with the option to send back those that you don't like. I've not spent much time checking out the funnel shaped PTs but I had good luck with the PT-44. I played on one for a while in high school and I think it was good for me at that stage of my development. I bought one recently based on the fact that I liked it back in the day. My current impression is that it is a middle of the road Helleberg style MP. I like the rim, plenty of core to the sound, and *very* easy to sound good on(too easy?). Probably not a great 'loud' mp(although very capable) but good for most band and smaller ensemble work.. especially if you are looking for a tight focused sound.

Email me if you are intested. I may consider selling it. Nearly new condition.. very little use.
