I am trying to figure out how to play a double pedal C, as featured in Encounters II. I always thought that the 'regular' pedal tone was the lowest open note that you could play on a brass instrument, and then valve down from that. The only way I have so far figured out one could play a double pedal C would be to have a CC tuba with a two step fifth valve, play a pedal C, and put all the valves down to add another octave. Since most of us don't have this configuration, how else could we do it? Especially if one has an Eb (hey Jay) or F tuba they want to attempt it on? Then, that note is an octave and a half below the instrument's open pedal tone.

I look forward to hearing lots of good suggestions.
Thanks
