The piece was intended to be played on a CC with a 2-tone 5th valve. Roger Bobo always played it on his 184, as far as I know. You CAN play that note with all valves down. Another way out is to just use your tongue; push all the valves down and toungue between your teeth, slightly stopping the air with your tongue against your upper teeth, as fast as you can. Some people can get the note open. I BELIEVE Gene Pokorny has a GREAT double pedal CCC. I use the valve method as my open double pedal doesn't sound like much.
