Various Valves

As a bass bone doubler, I was surfing though the most recent Brasswind catalog and notice that Bach has yet another valve--the Hagmann. Now because most (or all, I hope) of you guys play tuba, I will pose two questions. For those who play bass bone, can anyone attempt to describe the musical/sonic/playability/etc of this valve, esp. compared to the thayer (I know the technical aspects, I'm curious as to how it plays)? Q2. There is noticable resistance created when rotors are activated, even on tubas (just try blowing with all of them down vs. open). Why, then, have these reduced-resistance valves not been applied to the tuba?
