The Rotax valve has been used on some tubas, most notably the Willson rotary F-tuba and the new rotary CC-tuba. I believe that it is also used as a fifth valve on some piston-valve Kalison tubas. Because it is a larger valve, I understand that it is a little slower than a regular rotary valve. The only tuba I've ever tried with a rotax valve was a converted Holton 6/4 CC-tuba that had a rotax fifth valve.
