Getting wisdom teeth removed is no fun. But you can't put it off for long. For many people, myself included, they grew in sideways and got tangled up in the nerves in my lower jaw. Wisdom teeth that break skin are an easy pull. Mine weren't. I spent three days in the hospital, and it took me a week to get to the point where I could tolerate the pain without drugs. But it healed fairly quickly after that, despite the, um, 147 stitches.
Now that you're petrified at the thought of seeing the dentist, I should mention that I was way out on the tail of the distribution. For most folks, it's an in-office procedure that take maybe one afternoon, and once the stitches are out (they come out by themselves) they are good to go. But the longer you wait the worse it will be.
Had I not had the procedure done, I'd have no molars now. The wisdom teeth would have pushed them right out of my mouth.
