I had my wisdom teeth out this summer. It wasn't strictly neccesary, I could have survived with them, however I had two reasons for having the procedure.
1. every few weeks i'd be in serious pain that waould limit my playing, having them out ment that I couldn't play for one week, instead of not being able to play for a week every month
2. I'm not a dentist, but often there isn't enough room in the jaw for wisdom teeth so they either come through under other teeth (very bad) or they come in through part of the jaw (what happened to me, less bad but this greatly increases the risk of gum disease because your gums are split open)
in your position, especially if you've got an audition in about a year, get them out soon so that when that audition comes you're not in too much pain to be able to play. hope this helps
