Whatever you do, don't put it off. Just go in and get 'em taken out. The longer you wait, all the more complications will arise. For instance, if they get really tangled up into a nerve, there may be PERMAMENT damage done to your chops.....that means lack of feeling.
If you get it done by a good orthodontic surgeon to do it under a general, and not in the dentist' chair, the recovery time will be less, but it will be more expensive.
I was lucky enough to have the army do mine for me. Got the best civvy surgeon in the state, three days in a new field hospital hospital and even silk stiches (not the abrasive dissolvable ones). Didn't play for the week that the sitches were in (if you do otherwise you are just plain DUMB), as soon as they were out (literally!), I hit the horn without any problems. I was lucky, because I just bit the bullet and got it done before things got messy. I urge you to do the same!
