MICROPHONES:

I highly recommend (and use) an AKG wireless mic setup.

* Condensor Microphone: AKG C 419
It has flexible neck, and great rubber-covered clip ideal for tuba/euph bell edge. Designed for sax/trombone, I've found it ideal for tuba as well.

* Transmitter: (phantom power unit): AKG PT 80

* Receiver: AKG SR 80

Before I bought the wireless setup I used the same microphone with an AKG B29 Phantom power unit. That was fine, but with the wireless setup I can wander anywhere on stage and beyond, and can criticize the front-of-house sound as well as the fold-back during sound checks :-)

I actually mostly use it on my Eb sousa, duct tape involved in mounting it, as bell edge too far from bell centre. On the regular tuba, and valve trombone, bell edge clip is fine.

The whole rig works great into a bass amp, or straight into the desk for all your "electric" gigging needs.

Regards, Eve
