I don't know how auditions in the US works, so I can't comment on that, but everywhere else apart from UK one would have to play the RVW, normally in the first round. Of course it is possible to do that, but is it desireable, and it will be VERY hard to compete with someone playing F or Eb tubas on that piece. Plus the fact that for a lot of auditions some repertoire is specified for bass tuba and some for contrabass tuba. For the latter, your 6/4 would be fine, but perhaps not so(!) for the former.
