Hi Everyone,
One of the orchestras I perform with will be playing the Richard Strauss Suite, Op. 4 this year. The part is stated for Contrabassoon or Tuba. I have two questions with regards to the piece, and I hope some of you knowledgeable professionals out there can help me. First, is the piece to be played an octave down from where it is written, given that it is a Contrabassoon part (The publisher is Kalmus). Secondly, does anyone know of a good recording of the piece that uses the tuba, rather than the contrabassoon, so that I can have a good reference of sound quality, balance and expression for my practice sessions.
