Everybody else is talking about false tones, but after re-re-reading the original post, I think the question is about some other note. MG already mentioned the open low Eb on a BBb tuba, and I'm not sure if I can find what he's talking about (something above low F or G). Anybody have any ideas?
And, yes, I've used false tones too -- outdoors, in fact, and on purpose. :-)
