I used to play (just for fun, sometimes) a Conn big-bell EEb just like (I'd bet) yours. Same problem...maybe high Eb too? Don't throw it under a train. Save your money up over a comfortable period of time to buy an easier-to-play-in-tune instrument, and sell yours to someone who likes it.

I'm putting a 4 piston King EEb helicon on ebay quite soon. It has the same tendencies as your Conn, but only about 20-30% as bad. In other words, one can well "deal with it".)
If you think you might enjoy a helicon, you could watch for it. I have totally rebuilt the pistons on it. Otherwise, I guess follow the advice in the first paragraph. That Conn's low Eb and D are quite tedious, to say the least.
