i think that many of you are missing the fact that there are some great chances to attend touring orchestra concerts and a few great opera companies in New York. This exposure to great musicians is worth the "extra money" to live in such a great place. Many of these international groups don't make it to Iowa every year, but in New York you can count on it. Something like this should not be just decided on a money basis, but on an overall educational experience.
