The largest recording bass that I have seen is my satin-silver BBb 350 Holton tuba, sitting less than 2 feet away. It does not have the 30" inch bell like some have said, it has a 24" bell. But the throat is very wide in diameter as are the branches. I think the bore is around .750". Has the very dark, round robust sound associated with the old Holton tubas. It plays pretty well, but not the easiest tuba to play. The intonation isn't exacly perfect, but it can mostly be lipped or slided intune.
