I just finished watching some "SPike JOnes & His City SLickers" videos in which Roger Donley played what looked like a rather huge recording bass.
Who made the largest recording bass, and what were its dimensions? (Bell diameter, height, bore size, etc.)
Were there any "Recording Contrabass" tubas, or were the "Recording Bass" tubas all in the contrabass range?
How are these horns in terms of playability and performance? Which is the best type to go for, if one should ever come up for sale?
Oh yeah...in regards to the City Slickers.......were all Recording Basses equipped with reasonable facsimiles of Billy Barty in the bell? ;P
