Mostly in agreement. But there is one point, where I might happen diverge:

When it comes to ensemble playing, the only conical bass brass that is truly satifying, is not the bass tuba, but the euphonium.

Holst wrote his 1st suite opening for euph/tuba octaves. In the brass band version this has been converted to Eb/BBb octaves. Introducing this piece to the mudd moving business.

When it comes to beauty and clarity, the euph is an unchallenged #1 in bass brass. It can have its limitations, when the issue is volume in large ensembles. (When it comes to clarity alone the bass bone of course is the #1).

I have heard the SF with two huge CC rotary Hirsafterburners contrasted to a professional, but limited, stringbody. A questionable concept.
