I just started my senior year in high school as a tubist. My goal is to attend colleges such as Manhattan, Eastman, Mannes, and the Boston Conservatory to mold me into a great performer, but I have no clue what kind of competition there is out there when it comes to auditioning for college. I play tuba in the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and I have taken 1st tuba over 6 in the Wisconsin state honors band & orchestra program, so I have never really had competition or something to compare myself to. How hard is it to get into the colleges in New York? I know that the field of performance is extremely difficult to get into, but can I get into a NY school? That is the only thing that I am worried about right now. I love the orchestra and I think it is my place. What are my chances of going to New York?
