I'm not really short(I'm about 5'11") but I find that on some tubas I've played at school, the leadpipe is way too high. I personally prefer being able to sit the instrument on my lap, but with some, it feels like I have to bend forward and hold the tuba off of the chair to play it. To me, this doesn't feel good: I've been taught to hold the bottom bow on my lap, as close to my stomach as possible to get the same mouthpiece position as when I just buzz. Anyways, I have a few questions.

1: Why have the leadpipe so high? I'm of medium height, but the mouthpiece would just smack me in the nose if I tried to put the tuba in my lap.

2: I've been thinking of getting a King 2341UB tuba. Does it have a leadpipe suitable for my needs?

Thanks, everybody!
