I bought a GREAT cd yesterday "Thalia con banda". Thalia is a Mexican pop star/actress and this is a collection of her pop hits performed with banda instrumentation, but not always banda style. Some of these tunes are funky/salsa/cumbia styles.
Tubist is great-Alfredo Herrejon. Production quality is top notch also. This is not a real banda recording, but it's a great pop cd with a grooving tubist. It's on the EMI latin label, and available on amazon.
Thalia is a fine singer, and REALLY cute. The cd insert has a photo of her posing with a sousaphone! Maybe I'll get around to scanning it and post it.
