Have you considered telling her exactly what you posted? I think you have captured (in a far more tactful paragraph than what follows) the following ideas. You could either tell her, or follow Rick's strategy.

1. You aren't as good as you think you are.
2. You still need to improve.
3. You won't get there by trying to play things beyond your ability.
4. You will get there by using a disciplined, proven approach.
5. I like you and want to see you succeed.
6. You aren't succeeding by doing it your way.
7. I'm the teacher, you're the student. I will drop you if you aren't willing to learn.
