Daniel, thank you for your kind explanation. I have been rebuilding Porsche engines for 30 years, and what you describe sounds a bit like a valve job where new seats are required.

My idea of sleeving is to use copper or brass sheet, cut it to fit the rotor, silver solder the butt joint, silver solder it in place on the rotor, turn it down to about .005" oversize, use valve grinding compound to fit it in place, turn it on the lathe one more time if necessary, grind out the ports and be done with it.
