Having seen three German Orchestras and the Vienna Phil do this piece in the past 20 years, all of them did it on an F Tuba. I played it last week on a Hirsbrunner F. I have studied with plenty of people who play it on F. It is easier on F. BTW, I have played the piece, at last count(those of you who know me know my weirdness for keeping track of things)I have played the piece 43 times, most of them on CC. I wish I had done it on F all those times, it is really easier to cope with it. Make sure you are 100% sure of your facts, Meistersinger is most always done, outside the US(in Germany and Austria)on F. Nothing personal,but your facts are based on an American conceit, not a musical one.
