It occurs to me that Berlioz' idea of 10 tubas may not even be close to ours. If memory serves, the tuba in common orchestral use in Berlioz' time was a very small Eb, about as large as a modern euphonion. No BATs. But then, the old trombones were peashooters and the horns and trumpets were small-bore too. But 10 Yorkbrunners might be a bit much, even today.
