I have played various piston F tubas (Willson, MW, Yamaha, etc.), and I think the only new horns that I have not tried so far are the Hirsbrunners and Gronitz's. I prefer piston valves and don't want something too big such as the Willson. Does anyone have any first hand experience with the smaller of the two Hirsbrunners in particular? The larger one seems comparable to the Willson in size, but the HB-10 I think is more the size that I'm looking for. Out of the ones that I have tried, I prefer the MW 45slp, but the sound does not seem to resonate as much as I would like. Does anyone know if a Hirsbrunner might be the answer before I make a trip to Michigan?
