Ian, if I understand you correctly, you're not really adding another pitch source, just varying your internal (back of the mouthpiece) resonances to reinforce one set of already-present harmonics or another, Like Tuvan throat singing. Adding one's vocal chords give a second source to play with, but the illusion of a third is mostly produced by bringing out something that's already there. One could even infer a fourth source by considering the sum/difference frequencies.
