When I was in CA a few years ago, I had the chance to meet Jim Self. His F tuba had a main slide stick that was better then any one I had seen before. Jim's had springs woked in the design on both sides of a middle point. If he pushed the slide out, and let go of the stick, the slide would go back to it's set point. I would imagine that this type of design costs a bit more, but it might be worth it to get in touch with Jim and find out who did the work and what sort of money you're looking at.
The main slide sticks that Jay uses work great, but if you want the slide to return to a set point, talk to Jim Self. Good luck.
